Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this descriptive, cross-sectional study was to understand the extent to which university students implement reproductive health promoting behaviors and to explore factors influencing their reproductive health promoting behaviors.
Methods: A total of 303 university students completed a pack of self-report questionnaires. Descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson¡¯s correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression were used to analyze the data. Results: Overall, female students showed higher reproductive health promoting behaviors than male students. Reproductive health promoting behaviors were positively correlated with self-efficacy and self-esteem. For both male and female students, self-efficacy was the most important factor that influences their reproductive health promoting behaviors.
Conclusion: Considering that self-efficacy is the most influential factor to promote reproductive health promoting behaviors of university students, health care providers need to develop reproductive health promoting intervention programs including strategies that can increase self-efficacy of university students.
